1. Blown sand, 6", full of fisherman's rubbish and modern shells.
2. Black sand, 3", with seals' bones. Polished pottery.
3. Pure white sand, 7", (sterile).
4 & 5. Closely packed black soil. 4, about 6" thick, contains quantities of Neolithic pottery and flints, limpet shells and seals' bones. 5, which continues down to the rock is sterile.
